NZ SPEEDBOAT HISTORY

INTRODUCTION & CONTACTS:

Everybody is Welcomed to Join and Support The Historic and Classic Speedboat Club.

At the NZPBA Conference this year a Historic & Classic Division was added to the Speedboat Classes. Since then 16 of us H & C enthusiasts with all classes and types of circuit racing speedboats went ahead to form a Club.
We had people attend from Dargaville to
Christchurch.
Here are some of the major points from the meeting.
It was decided to form this Club as a Social Club to cater for all speedboat enthusiasts and the Club is to be called the Historic and Classic Speedboat Club.
It was decided to have the Historic boats cut off date up to and including 1967, using Elray III as the cut off point. The Classic boats cut off must be 35 years of age from first launch Replica and other boats by invitation. (This means a request and approval by the Club)
As this will be our first year we have chosen two main venues to promote the Club.
We will have two or more boats on display at the Masport Cup-GP Meeting at Karapiro on the 9th & 10th Feb and the same will be for the NZ Nats at Lake Rotoiti (South Island) on the 22nd -24th Feb.
Other venues may be used as well and we have already had an invitation from the Manawatu Club for a display/demonstration.
We hope to eventually have Gazebo type structures setup to use as a Greet and Meet Centre where owners, drivers and supporters can meet. The idea is to give all past and present speedboat enthusiasts a place to meet.
Naturally to do something like this will cost money so it was passed that the annual subs was set at $50.00
To keep the costs down I have offered the NZ Speedboat History Face Book page to help promote the Club and I will make a section on the History Website for the Club.
